Blocks are used to build machines. Each has its own functions, advantages, and disadvantages.

In general, placement of blocks is constrained to a 1-metre grid; some blocks, such as Powered Wheels, allow placement of blocks to an 0.5-metre grid.

Advanced Building allows unlimited movement and rotation of blocks after they are placed. In this mode, it becomes important to understand how Colliders work - the colliders of many blocks do not line up with their visuals, and connections do not always work in sensible ways.

Scaling mods allow blocks to be scaled, letting them take on different sizes. The properties, quirks, and possibilities of scaled blocks change how the game is played drastically.

NoBounds is a mod which removes limits on block parameters - for example, instead of only being able to set a Powered Wheel's power to a range of 0.5 to 2, NoBounds allows setting the power to 10x, 0x, and more. On its own, it has as much impact on the game as scaling - combined with scaling, it makes virtually anything possible.

Skinpacks alter the visuals of blocks, allowing different shapes and colours. In combination with advanced building (and scaling), they can transform a creation into something utterly unrecognisable as coming from Besiege.

Categories

Basic-thumb Basic blocks are the basic components of many machines - structural blocks, and a small selection of basic moving parts.
Locomotion-thumb Locomotion blocks are centered around movement - wheels, both powered and unpowered, steering blocks, and cogs.
Mechanical-thumb Mechanical blocks provide a variety of miscellaneous useful functions - joints, suspension, winches, grabbers, and more.
Weaponry-thumb Weaponry blocks deliver violence of all sorts and from all ranges - blades and saws from up close, and cannons and rockets from afar.
Flight-thumb Flight blocks are purpose-made for taking to the skies - aerodynamic blocks for planes, balloons for lifting, and ballast for balance (and structure).
Automation-thumb Automation blocks provide more streamlined ways of automating mechanisms and routines, and taking in information from the environment - button timers, logic gates, and a variety of sensors.
Armour-thumb Armour blocks protect machines from damage or provide shapes useful for carrying other blocks - armour plates and wooden panels, and half-pipes and holders.
