The Altimeter is a machine block that emulates a keypress when it reaches a certain height.

Usage[]
The altimeter presses and holds a key as long as it is above the set height in metres (or below, if inverted).
A gauge on the face of the block increases linearly with altitude. The left is 0, the center is the set height, and the right is twice the set height. An indicator light on the face of the block turns on when the block is emulating a keypress.
It does not follow terrain; it is always based on a 'sea-level' altitude. A Sensor is a better choice for a terrain-following equivalent.
Technology[]
It doesn't have much use in multi-block technologies, due to its simple function. It does one job and does it well.
If terrain isn't an issue, it could conceivably be used for several things in place of sensors.
